IMPORTANT NOTE

  • If you feel the rules are UNCLEAR, you should ASK for clarification in the CYOA Design Discussion thread on the DISCORD and WAIT for an answer before taking any action. In general, take a conservative interpretation: what isn't explicitly allowed is forbidden.

The Rules

Basic Rules

The Cycle and YOU

  • The LtOuroumov ICYOA operates on a cycle system
    • TWO weeks of Additions
    • ONE week of Edits/Fixes
    • ONE week of Rest/Breaks
  • This CAN be subject to change on short notice depending on LtOuroumov's schedule

A Design

The Basics

  • For a contribution to be added to the LtOuroumov ICYOA you need to make a design and post it in the CYOA Designs Only thread on the DISCORD

The Rules

  • A Design must stay for at least 24 HOURS in the CYOA Designs Only Thread
    • Must receive at least 10 Thumbs UP reactions
      • and either no more than 30% Thumbs DOWN reactions
      • or no more than 5 Thumbs DOWN reactions
        • whichever number is HIGHER of these options
for example with 12 upvotes, the threshold is 12*0.3=3.6, rounded down is 3; with 30 upvotes, it's 10; etc.
  • Only post powers you plan to include this cycle in the design channel.
    • If you have an old design (more than 3 weeks ago), you need to resubmit it, leave it up for 24 hours and have enough votes.
  • If a design receives too many downvotes (i.e. was rejected by the community) or is vetoed by LtOuroumov, it cannot resubmitted again it for at least 3 months by anyone.
    • This includes modifications and variations on the same core idea (don't try to find ways around the rule).
    • If the idea is shot down too many times, it might be added to the list of banned topics.
  • The designs must be proofread (meaning that the grammar and spelling must be impeccable), formatted (use paragraphs you barbarians), and as clear as possible in their description.
    • At minimum, the Power/OoP must describe its core mechanics in clear terms in a relatively short amount of words.
    • Some fluff is allowed but it must not be to the detriment of clarity. If you chose to add an image, it must be cropped with a 5:3 aspect ratio (FIVE pixels wide for every THREE pixels high)̠, in the form of a link (hosted on the upload site), and be related to the power.
  • Cross-power discounts (where buying one power lowers the price of another) are forbidden.
  • Add-ons, Upgrades, and Fusions that depend on another contribution require the consent of the ORIGINAL AUTHOR of the contribution
    • To find those Authors check the Authors section of the wiki
    • Any contributions with an unknown author require LtOuroumov's permission instead
    • Any contributions with an author who has been absent from the DISCORD for more than 30 DAYS can get permission from LtOuroumov instead.

Rules for Additions

Making a Design

  • To add to the CYOA the idea must be posted in CYOA Designs Only thread of the DISCORD channel
  • What to include in a design?
    • A Design should include DESIGN at the very top of the post to make finding the power later easier
    • It should have the PRICE (if needed) in SP &/or CP
    • It should have the NAME
    • It should tell everyone WHERE the design will be added to the CYOA
    • It should tell everyone WHAT other contributions need to be selected to accessible
    • If the design would have a picture, it should be posted as well in a 5ː3 Ratio (5 pixels wide for every 3 pixels tall)
    • The main 'bulk' of the design (the Text) should be contained within a codeblock using DISCORD's markdown text that is ``` BEFORE and AFTER the text you wish to contain within the codeblock
    • The design should be checked for SPELLING and GRAMMAR, if this isn't your strong suite please feel free to either ask for help on CYOA Design Discussion, or make use of online tools like Grammarly, or ChatGPT/AI to aid you in this
      • If you're using AI we recommend something along the lines of
        • Could you please review the text for grammar and spelling errors, rephrasing for a slightly smoother flow, improved readability, conveying the idea more clearly and offering suggestions to enhance the idea presented while keeping the text within a paragraph limit ? Here's the text [Insert text]

Rules in GENERAL for Additions

  • Each Contributor gains THREE free addition slots to use to add new things to the CYOA each ADDITION CYCLE
    • Of those THREE slots each contributor may add ONE new Power or Object for free each week
    • The remaining TWO may not be used to add new Powers or Objects to the CYOA
    • The limit is per ADDITION CYCLE and will reset at the beginning of each ADDITION CYCLE
  • Each Contributor MUST add their contributions to the file THEMSELVES
    • Unless special permission has been granted by LtOuroumov herself
      • Currently the only ones with such permission are

        • jacktheamorphous

Rules for Add-on Additions

  • ONE new Addition can have up to THREE add-ons for free each week
    • all FREE Add-ons must be on the ONE new addition
  • You may convert an ADDITION slot into THREE add-ons
    • These add-ons may be added to a new power or a preexisting power

Rules for OC Additions

  • The lifetime limit for personal contributor OCs is raised to five (5)
    • additional rules are in the Discord OC thread.

Rules for MORE slots

  • We have a WRITING CHALLENGE to gain more slots
    • every 500 words up to 1500 will gain you ONE add-on slot
    • every 1000 words will gain you ONE standard addition slot
    • Every 2000 words will gain you ONE Power addition slot
    • Every 10000 words of a story with ONE OC character of YOURS already in the CYOA, will gain you ONE OC Slot
  • Please note everyone is welcome, even if you don't normally contribute, and it is meant to be a positive environment. Constructive criticism is welcome but if an author does not want detailed feedback, please respect their wishes.
Content Rules
  • Keep things SFW. This mainly means no explicit sex scenes or anything adjacent.
  • Violence, body horror, and other things of that nature are on a case by case basis.
  • Add content warnings or a general rating when it would be higher than a Teen rating.
  • Usage of AI tools must be tagged as either AI Generated when tools like ChatGPT were used to create the content from a prompt or AI Assisted of the tools were used to modify human-written content or for translation.
Publishing Rules
  • The stories you write must be shared in this thread.
  • You can publish them either on Google Docs if you want to keep them "private" to the server or on any fiction sharing platform such as SpaceBattles or its sister sites, AO3, Royal Road, Scribblehub, etc.

Rules for Modifications

General Rules
  • An Edit does NOT require a slot to be added
Minor Modifications
  • Are things such as grammar or spelling fixes
  • Changing the size or position of AN item
  • Require at least 5 Thumbs Up and
    • no more than 2 Thumbs Down or
    • no more than 30% Thumbs Down
      • whichever is higher
Major Modifications
  • Are things like affecting the PRICE, the MECHANICS, the BALANCE, the LORE ACCURACY, etc.
    • must receive the ORIGINAL AUTHOR's permission
Things to Note
  • YOU must provide a CLEAR and CONCISE reason for why the change needs to be made
  • YOU must provide it as a DESIGN in the CYOA Designs Only thread
  • If the ORIGINAL AUTHOR does NOT give permission, or allow variations their decision is FINAL

Current Moratoriums

  • Perks and Drawbacks (all of them).
  • Paragon-class powers (cost 120 SP or more)
  • Content from the Shinza Banshou series
    • due to the nature of this franchise it needs to be reviewed by LtOuroumov.
  • Conditional scores (discounts)
  • Section re-ordering proposals

A MORTAORIUM is not necessarily a hard BAN rather a limit placed, that needs a VERY good reason and permission from LtOuroumov to overrule

LtOuroumov's WoG

  • Doesn't matter what the stated limits are, 15 SP gets you 15 SP worth of power and no more.
    • this means in a vacuum if the price of a power is 15 SP, you will only get 15 SP (Street Tier) worth of power out of it
      • AKA the "No omnipotence/I Win for 5 SP powers"

What this means: You allow other people to copy or remix the content you submit as long as they provide proper attribution and use the same terms. This means that the content you submit can stay in the CYOA forever, even if you don't want it to.
